This series helps teachers use the imaginative ideas in children’s
books for math lessons. Now organized into four grade-level collections
to better respond to teachers’ specific classroom needs, this
series includes favorite lessons from the original books plus fresh
lessons based on children’s books new to the series. Teachers
will appreciate these books for the enjoyment and excitement they
bring to math instruction. With introductions by Marilyn Burns, these
books include vignettes of lessons and samples of student work.
Math
and Literature, Grades 2–3
This new two-book collection
presents a unique opportunity for teachers to extend their
use of nonfiction into teaching mathematics. Each resource
draws on nonfiction children’s
books that are ideal for using students’ natural quest
for knowledge as the basis for mathematical investigations.
Students will be motivated to think, reason, and use their
math skills to solve problems. With introductions by Marilyn
